China’s Usage Of The “Honey Trap,” Is Now Also Targeting US Politicians

The latest popular outrage is now a response to Christian Fang, a Chinese national, who has conspired to gain political access and power through sex or romantic affiliations with two mayors and even Eric Swalwell, who is a representative democrat in the state of California.

“Honeytrapping” is a spy tactic used prevalently by the Chinese Communistic Party (CCP) and involves the usage of money and sex to entice and blackmail targets for classified or secret information and to compromising an official in power or key positions. In fact, the CCP has done this many times. Chen Yonglin, a defector in 2005, who was a senior diplomat at the Chinese Consulate in Sydney, Australia, claimed China had a network of over 1,000 agents/spies there. Chen stated that an Australian official caught was blackmailed to act as a Chinese agent for the Chinese government in exchange for their silence of having evidence of him with a minor. This tactic is one of the tools used by the CCP, says Timothy Heath, senior international defense researcher at RAND Corporation.

“CCP agents, for example, might use a honey trap to seduce a U.S. intelligence official or some other official into providing sensitive information, Heath said. The CCP agents would then turn around and blackmail the victim to get more.” From the Epoch Times, “While it is nearly impossible to pinpoint the exact number of honey traps that could be occurring in the United States, an unnamed former defense and intelligence operative told Fox News it could be well into hundreds, if not thousands.”

Also, there was a former Deputy Mayor of London by the name of Ian Clement who warned the public after he became one of its victims. Clement was briefed and warned about honeytraps before he attended the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and had his drink spiked where an attractive Chinese woman went through his personal things for London operations and business dealings. There was another case in 2011, where China had a woman by the name of Deng Xinmin who worked on over 10 South Korean diplomats and gleaned key intelligence data from them.

The most significant way how China uses this tactic is to really detail and create and monitor specific rooms in their own country to blackmail, bribe, and coerce those they catch red-handed in types of situations that may defame or bring prison time consequences. One of the most recent highlights of this is Hunter Biden and the “sensitive material” on his laptop. He was caught doing drugs and being involved with minor Chinese girls in some of these photos and videos. Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, was targeted because of him and his dad’s affiliations to US Congress. This was reported by “Newsmax” and Steve Bannon’s “War Room: Pandemic” podcast.

“Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe wrote in a Dec. 3 op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal that this year ‘China engaged in a massive influence campaign that included targeting several dozen members of Congress and congressional aides.’

‘I briefed the House and Senate Intelligence committees that China is targeting members of Congress with six times the frequency of Russia and 12 times the frequency of Iran,’ he wrote, referring to influence operations in general.’

‘If I could communicate one thing to the American people from this unique vantage point, it is that the People’s Republic of China poses the greatest threat to America today, and the greatest threat to democracy and freedom world-wide since World War II,’ Ratcliffe added.”
