Huang Qian, a Falun Dafa practitioner, was a micro-blogger in China. In the beginning of 2015, an essay called “Jailbreak File,” appeared on the website, Potential Weibo. This was Qian using the internet, published “Memoirs of Gulag,” which exposed the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners by the Chinese Communistic Party (CCP). “Gulag” is a term used to describe the labor camps in the Soviet Union.
One night, on February 3, 2015, the police arrested her. Part of a former Guangzhou Central bookstore staff, at 47 years of age, she was sentenced to five years in prison; during this time, she repetitiously asked for an appeal through her lawyer. All her letters to her family had been taken by the prison staff and her family had no way of gleaning any information about her or what her situation was; this was during the sixth arrest that resulted in prison time.
She was fired from her workplace because she would not give up her beliefs and practice of Falun Gong. She did three years in a labor camp and ended up being imprisoned for four years. During this time, she was persecuted and tortured. These human rights crimes against her included savage beatings, cigarette burnings, electric baton shocks, drug injections, doused in freezing water during the winter, sleep deprivation, and not being able to use the toilet.
Because of being harmed and persecuted in this way, the torture deformed her spine and she became very weak. Recently, her family visited her after she was detained over five months; she was emaciated and very weak. She was interviewed and told her younger brother, “I eat very little every day.” Just before they left, she blurted out, “I cannot handle anymore; hurry up and save me!” She is still being harmed and tortured to this day.
Huang Qian is detained in Guangdong Provincial Women’s Prison. The address is 52 Guangchong 4 Road in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
